Newborn Crochet Tattoo Art Mom Hat - How-To

A friend of mine asked me to make a hat for a newborn baby with tattoo art and Mom embroidered on. I made the beanie in black with a red heart and a banner sewn across in white with MOM embroidered on it. To learn how to make a beanie you can watch my YouTube video. I made the heart by following the pattern on this YouTube video by Hectanooga. She has lots of instructional videos for crochet. The banner was made with 16 foundation double crochets and then I embroidered MOM on it. But you could put anything on it - even DAD! Pea Pod Crochet Cocoon & Hat - Photo Prop

I was recently asked to crochet a pea pod cocoon and hat for a young lady who will be having her baby soon. It was so much fun to figure out just how I was going to make it. I decided to use some soft green yarn and made little twirly tails on the bottom of the cocoon and the top of the hat to look like a real pea pod. I attached 3 pom poms to represent peas. They are simply tied on so they can be removed and the cocoon looks sweet either way. I cannot wait to see pictures of the baby in this project. I scribbled out the pattern as I made it. One of these days I will get things together and start writing out the patterns so other people can read them!
